Hello Reader,
As July winds down, I’m reminded—again—that wellness isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about pausing, listening, and tending to the quieter parts of ourselves. This month, I’m taking my own advice.
The Hoots crew is heading out for a long weekend to unplug. We’re trading screens for sunsets, and even Dill—our faithful beagle—is coming along for some quality family time. This kind of pause isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity, especially when emotions are running deep.
This July has carried grief in its hands. On July 22, we experienced my mom’s passing. The breath has felt heavy—and that’s okay. Grief is a full-body process. It lives in our chest, our sleep, our nervous system. One way I navigate loss is through reflection and creating. So this month’s message is simple: Breathe through it. Let it move through you, not around you.

Breathe Through Grief, Then Reset in August
As we ease into August, I’m returning to the basics—the steady rhythms that keep me grounded: Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Move. Thrive. These aren’t just wellness words—they’re lifelines when the world feels untethered.
Grief—especially when it lingers—can wear on our nervous system. It disturbs sleep, dulls appetite, and makes the breath shallow. That’s why I’m gently doubling down on brain health, nervous system support, and emotional recovery. I’m focusing on nutrient-rich, anti-inflammatory foods (think wild blueberries, turmeric, and omega-3s) and creating daily rhythms that feel more like a hug than a hustle.
If you’re carrying something heavy—grief, burnout, anxiety, or just the weight of modern life—I invite you to slow down with me. Take a deeper breath. Give yourself space to reset.

In this heart-centered episode, we explore why self-care isn’t indulgent—it’s essential medicine for your brain, breath, and being. It’s the rhythm we return to when everything else feels off.
💛 Let this be your reminder: self-care isn’t selfish—it’s your strongest form of prevention.
Blog: Inflammation & Inner Calm
As a tribute to my mom, and as a way to “journal” my way forward, this week’s blog is focusing on inflammation—not just the kind that causes pain or fatigue, but the kind that quietly builds from stress, poor sleep, grief, and disconnection from our natural rhythm.
Inflammation isn’t the enemy—but it is a messenger. It lets us know when our body needs repair, when our nervous system is overstimulated, or when rest is overdue.
It’s a tribute to her legacy—and a reminder of the healing power of prevention. You’ll find science, storytelling, and small shifts you can start today.
